Fundamental rights, data science and facial recognition technology

On 27 September, Microsoft hosted a Data Science and Law Forum in their Brussels office.

The programme included a rich variety of presentations from policy, academia, civil society and business. The discussions highlighted legal implications of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning by focusing on aspects such as fairness in machine learning predictions, morality and AI, fundamental rights implications of facial recognition, predictive policing and interpretability of algorithms.

The Agency provided input from its research on biometrics and artificial intelligence with respect to facial recognition technology.
