    In 2013 and 2016, the Spanish Institute of Women and for Equal Opportunities carried out two comprehensive surveys on the perceptions of discrimination and anti-discrimination policies, experiences of discrimination and attitudes towards minority groups among the general population in Spain. A comparative report on both surveys was released in 2018.

    Statistics Portugal developed a small-scale pilot survey on the origins, trajectories and living conditions of the resident population by the end of 2021. Since Statistics Portugal had no experience in collecting data on ethnic origin in official statistics, a pilot survey was designed and data collection was carried out.

    The study’s main goal is to gain insight into how potential victims perceive racial or ethnic discrimination and how this has evolved over time in terms of extent and intensity, and to identify the areas, circumstances and specific manifestations of discrimination, with a special focus on the field of employment and training for employment. Employment and training are of particular interest, as this is one of the areas where higher levels of discrimination were detected in the latest editions of this report.

    In 2020/2021, the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) conducted a comprehensive pretest of a question module on self-reports of discrimination in various areas of life. The aim was to prepare the module for the inclusion in the core sample of the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP).

    Actiris, the Brussels Regional Employment Office, developed a study to understand specific barriers facing job seekers by monitoring their national origins, and mechanisms of discrimination on the basis of origin and sex.

    The project consisted of producing detailed regional and thematic analyses of the specificities of the position of Roma in several areas of life, which were drafted, published (in Croatian, Romani and English) and presented at five thematic national conferences. In addition, it included activities aiming to address the baseline data research results in the area of education as well as capacity-building activities for implementing the national plan for Roma inclusion (NPRI) at regional and local levels. Throughout the project cycle, Roma representatives have been closely involved and the activities undertaken gave special attention to Roma women, youth and children.

    This research was based on pairing the aggregated data of the Croatian Institute of Public Health from public health databases and registers (health data) with data of the Ministry of Interior Affairs (ethnic data) with the objective of informing public health policies relating to the health of the Roma population. This research is the first research based on combining nationally representative healthcare data and ethnic data in Croatia.

    Every two years, the Plenipotentiary of the Government of the Slovak Republic for National Minorities (PGNM) prepares a report on the standing and rights of national minorities, and a report on the use of national minority languages, to map the development of use of rights of national minorities. Both reports are publicly available and approved by the government. They are prepared in cooperation with various ministries, municipalities and other state authorities that provide data, so the reports include all the relevant information on the use of rights by national minorities.

    In 2018, the Croatian Government Office for Human Rights and Rights of National Minorities published a study collecting baseline data on the socio-economic position of the Roma community in order to monitor progress with respect to Roma inclusion and integration. The basis for the study was a mapping of the Roma population, combining external and self-identification methods, which gave a precise indication of the size of the Roma population in Croatia for the first time ever.

The latest research was published in a report in December 2017.
