Order n° 2013-368 concerning regulations for penitenciaty facilities (Décret n° 2013-368 relatif aux règlements intérieurs types des établissements pénitentiaires)Every prisoner shall be provided with a varied, well-prepared and well-presented diet, at least three times a day, taking into account his or her age, state of health, the nature of his or her work and, as far as possible, his or her philosophical or religious convictions. A prisoner who is ill shall be given the diet prescribed by a doctor.

2020The NPM report recommends that prisoners must have the possibility to eat during the night and food and basic kitchen tools (e.g., kettles, hotplates, microwaves) must be available. Persons deprived of liberty must be provided with a varied diet, taking into account their age, health, physical condition, religion and culture. Three meals a day shall be offered at regular intervals and at the customary times. Arrangements should be made to feed people who are absent from the institution at the usual mealtime. Food should be prepared and served hygienically in accordance with health standards and nutritional recommendations. It should be provided in sufficient quantity and at an appropriate temperature. Persons deprived of their liberty must have access to drinking water at all times, without limitation of quantity and in good conditions. Report details
