The conference will be hosted by the Government of Armenia, as current chair of the Council of Europe. It aims to address issues related to racism and xenophobia in political discourse, as well as topics related to combating hate speech and racial stereotypes in social networks and media. It will also look at the role of human rights institutions in combating racial and ethnic discrimination in Europe. The two-day conference will be attended by high level state representatives, international and independent experts, and representatives of international organisations. The conference should lead to suggested ways forward to tackle racism and related issues across Europe. FRA will participate as part of its 2013 priority focus on hate crime.
