The event aims to raise awareness of human rights and their importance for preventing threats such as trafficking in human beings.
The panel will discuss ways to improve the implementation of human rights as established under the European Convention on Human Rights and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. This implementation was considered as a means to improve living conditions, promote stronger social cohesion and more security, especially for vulnerable groups.
The event is organised by the Austrian Federal Ministries for European and International Affairs and of the Interior, the Council of Europe, the OSCE and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. Prior to this event, FRA made available some of its reports at the Winter Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which dealt with the topic ‘The Rise of Extremism Radicalism and Xenophobia: Challenges for the OSCE Region’. The session took place in Vienna on 13-14 February.
