Maltese Presidency event focuses on LGBTI rights

On 23 February, the FRA Director will give a keynote address during a high level conference organised under the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The conference will focus on the EU’s policies on the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) people. He will also speak about the list of actions to advance LGBTI equality that the European Commission launched in December 2015.

Norway Grants and EEA are supporting the event which is one of the activities under the cooperation framework between the Agency and the EEA and Norway Grants. This framework was signed on 15 December 2016.

Watch below the welcome speeches by Minister for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties Helena Dalli, Director-General EU Justice and Consumers Tiina Astola, FRA Director Michael O'Flaherty & EU parliament vice-president Ulrike Lunacek, followed by a panel discussion on current European level actions towards LGBTIQ equality mainstreaming.
