National workshops to help police improve hate crime recording

The Agency, together with OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), will facilitate a series of workshops for law enforcement officers and officials responsible for (hate) crime registration.

The workshops will take place between 7 and 22 March in Lithuania, Portugal and Poland. They aim to raise awareness of the need to properly record hate crimes, to identify gaps in existing hate crime recording and data collection frameworks, and to discuss practical steps to improve these frameworks to ensure comprehensive and sustainable hate crime recording systems. Workshops in other Member States are planned for later in 2018. These workshops fall under the FRA-coordinated subgroup on methodologies on recording and collecting data on hate crime.
