The Agency spoke about the human rights perspectives in urban policy during the launch event of the public consultation on the Draft Action Plans of the Partnerships of the the Urban Agenda for the EU.
On 6-7 July, the Agency’s Director, together with the Head of its Freedoms and Justice Department, attended the informal meeting of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers in Tallinn under the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The new Chairperson of the Management Board of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) Sirpa Rautio takes office on 13 July 2017. She was elected by the FRA Management Board at its 26th Meeting in May 2017. Filippo di Robilant from Italy was elected as FRA Executive Board member.
Proposals to create a European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) should ease travel to the EU and simplify border checks. However, in its latest Opinion the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) points to various fundamental rights concerns in the system. These include the collection of sensitive personal data, who can access the data and how long the data are kept.
