The Maltese Presidency of the EU Council invited the Agency to give a presentation to its Working Party on Social Questions on the state of play regarding discrimination on the ground of sexual orientation.
The EU Agency for Fundamental Rights and the Canadian Embassy in Vienna held a panel discussion at the Agency on 1 December on the challenges lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) refugees face.
On 21 November, the German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth brought together policy makers, experts, health workers, insurance companies and civil society representatives to discuss socio-economic and medical developments in dealing with transsexualism and trans identity.
On 6 August, the FRA Director Michael O Flaherty joined Commissioner Jourová during the Europride 2016 festival as part of the launch of the EU campaign to raise awareness and increase the social acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) people.
FRA provided input from its Compendium of good practices for tackling Hate Crime to a roundtable event on 1 July in Budapest on combating LGBTI hate cime. The event was organised by the UNI-FORM project that gathers participants from 10 EU Member States (Portugal, Spain, UK, Ireland, Malta, Belgium, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania).
