FRA took part in the 8th Frontex Consultative Forum meeting on 5 November in Warsaw. Discussions during the Forum focused on the areas of operations, return and training vis-a-vis the expected changes to the Frontex mandate.
On 28 October, FRA took part in a kick-off meeting for operational coordination in return procedures, organised by Frontex. Representatives from the European Commission, the European Asylum Support Office and the three main EU Member States-managed return projects took part.
Members of the Finnish parliamentary Constitutional Law Committee visited FRA to hear about the Agency’s work related to the fundamental rights challenges in the EU in general and in Finland in particular.
FRA presented the preliminary findings from its research into the fundamental rights aspects of three Framework Decisions in the area of pre- and post-trial detention, and issues related to the transfer of prisoners at a conference on 24 September.
On 22 October, FRA attended the SCIFA meeting of high-level EU asylum and immigration officials in Brussels, and delivered a presentation on the fundamental rights compatibility of the proposal for an EU common list of safe countries of origin.
On 26 October, FRA gave a presentation at the launch of the second national report from the Coordinating ombudsperson for Italian provinces (Coordinamento Nazionale dei difensori civici delle regioni e delle province autonome) at the Italian Parliament in Rome.
