The FRA Director Michael O’Flaherty met on 15 April with the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Michael Georg Link, and the Head of ODIHR’s Human Rights Department.
On 13-14 April, the World Bank, the Hungarian Ministry of Human Capacities and FRA held a workshop in Budapest to discuss challenges in defining and monitoring social inclusion of vulnerable groups, such as Roma.
Roma poverty and employment were the focus of a FRA presentation on 5 April at a conference on employment opportunities for young Roma, part of the European Parliament’s Roma Week activities, organised by the ERGO Network and MEPs.
On International Roma Day, FRA calls for greater efforts to combat discrimination and anti-Gypsyism and further the inclusion of Roma, Sinti, Traveller and other similar communities. The success (or failure) of Roma integration is a test of Europe’s ability to provide decent conditions for any vulnerable group.
