The Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) has set up a Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination. It is responsible for equality, discrimination (on any grounds), all forms of racism, xenophobia and the situation of minorities.
FRA Director Morten Kjaerum held a speech on the occasion of International Roma Day on 8 April at a conference entitled 'Realising Roma rights: addressing violence, discrimination and segregation in Europe' at Harvard University.
FRA took part in the “From Pilots to Outcomes: Evidence-based lessons on socio-economic inclusion of Roma communities” conference organised by the UNDP, the World Bank and the European Commission on 15 March.
FRA was invited to attend the Council of Europe’s conference ‘Poverty and Inequality in Societies of Human Rights: the paradox of democracies - Proposals for an inclusive society’ which took place on 21-22 February in Strasbourg.
The FRA presented on 29 November its two recent reports on hate crime and on minorities as victims of crime. This presentation was given as part of the fundamental rights exhibition at the European Parliament and was followed by a panel debate organised in partnership with the European Parliament’s Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup (ARDI).
