The Criminal Law Committee of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) has invited FRA to participate in this meeting to discuss the rights of suspects and the accused in criminal proceedings.
On the occasion of European Data Protection Day, on 28 January, FRA will attend a meeting organised by the Italian Data Protection Authority (DPA) in Rome, dedicated to “La società sorvegliata. I nuovi confini della libertà” (The surveilled society. The new borders of freedom).
On 26-27 January, media professionals will come to FRA to jointly create a toolkit to help raise awareness among online, print and audiovisual media professionals about fundamental rights to avoid unintentional bias that reinforce stereotypes.
On 25 January, FRA Director Michael O’Flaherty will present the Agency’s report on ‘Surveillance by intelligence services: fundamental rights safeguards and remedies in the European Union - Mapping Member States’ legal frameworks’ to members of the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee (LIBE).
FRA has been invited by the European Commission to discuss the preliminary findings of a study on pre-trial detention and their alternatives carried out by the Centre for Strategy & Evaluation Services (CSES) on behalf of the Commission.
