This year's Annual Dialogue was a joint Committee of the Regions (CoR) and FRA conference on the Rights of the Child, and took place on 13 November in Brussels. Co-chaired by Jacques Barrot and Luc Van Den Brande, the event brought together both institutional and association representatives, local and regional politicians, practitioners and representatives from civil society, academia and international institutions such as Unicef. The conference aimed to exchange evidence of good practices from concrete projects carried out at local and regional level, promote benchmarking and foster debate on developing policy orientations in this field.
The conference takes place as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child celebrates its 20th Anniversary and the Lisbon Treaty begins its journey to make children's rights legally binding in the EU, as enshrined in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.
