FRA attends informal meeting of Justice and Home Affairs Council

The JHA informal Council, taking place at the beginning of each new Presidency, is intended to allow for a free discussion on key issues among ministers of justice and home affairs.

At the most recent meeting on 26-27 January, issues discussed included practical solidarity when facing particular pressures from migration flows and how early warning mechanisms could be supportive to such solidarity.

In addition, the Commission took the opportunity to present its new data protection package. The FRA Director Morten Kjaerum intervened on issues such as family reunification for third-country nationals living in the EU.
