FRA issues opinion on proposed EU data protection reform package

Following a request by the European Parliament for an analysis of the fundamental rights issues associated with the proposed EU data protection reform package, FRA will present its opinion on the draft legislation at an interparliamentary committee meeting.

The opinion builds on those already published by the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), Article 29 Working Party, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), and the Committee of the Regions, and complements them from a broader fundamental rights perspective. The two-day meeting, entitled ‘The reform of the EU data protection framework – building trust in a digital and global world’, was organised by the European Parliament.
