The focus of the discussions was on Frontex’s work in the area of fundamental rights. FRA had the opportunity to present the role of the Frontex Consultative Forum, alongside the Jesuit Refugee Service Europe. FRA and the Jesuit Refugee Service Europe co-chair the forum. The Frontex Consultative Forum consists of 15 members from different international governmental and non-governmental organisations. It has been tasked to provide advice to Frontex on fundamental rights issues. The Frontex Fundamental Rights Officer also presented her activities to the LIBE committee.
European Parliament exchanges views on Frontex
On 27 June 2013, the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) held an exchange of views on Frontex.
