He met with the Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Justice, the Minister of the Interior, the Vice-Minister of Social Security and Labour, as well as the chairpersons of the Parliament’s EU Affairs and Legal Affairs Committees. During the visit, he spoke of the agency’s work and offered FRA’s assistance and expertise on a variety of issues that will be discussed under the Lithuanian Presidency. One of the points of cooperation will be FRA’s annual Fundamental Rights Conference on 12-13 November. This year the theme will be ‘Combatting hate crime in the EU’. The agency has also agreed to present findings from its EU-wide survey on Violence against women in the annual European Crime Prevention Network (ECPN) conference and support discussions in several Council working parties. The Director also met key civil society organisations in Lithuania.
FRA discusses cooperation with upcoming Lithuanian Presidency
The FRA Director, Morten Kjaerum, visited the upcoming Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU on 25 January in Vilnius.
