FRA Symposium report feeds Council discussions on rule of law

Discussions at the Council of the European Union on the rule of law will benefit from the conclusions of the last FRA Symposium; they have now been classed as a Council document.

The symposium, which took place on 7 June, brought together around 80 key experts from across Europe to discuss challenges to the rule of law and fundamental rights. Participants debated the best use of existing instruments as well as the creation of new indicators and assessment mechanisms to safeguard fundamental rights throughout the EU. The conclusions, which summarise the discussions, will now be available in the official registry of Council documents and can be further referred to in Council proceedings. The document registry lists documents submitted to the Council or to one of its preparatory bodies which are used as a basis for discussions, and could influence the decision-making process or reflect the progress made on a given subject.
