Meeting with Council of Europe’s equality and non-discrimination committee

The Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) has set up a Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination. It is responsible for equality, discrimination (on any grounds), all forms of racism, xenophobia and the situation of minorities.

FRA was asked to present its work to the committee in order to develop cooperation between the two bodies. The presentation, which took place on 23 April, included an overview of the situation concerning equal treatment and non-discrimination on all grounds with a particular focus on the situation of ethnic minorities and LGBT people. In addition, FRA’s work on Roma inclusion was also presented and discussed. Several members of the committee were interested in FRA’s work. The Chair suggested that in future FRA could be requested to provide input to specific debates.
