The Polish Human Rights Defender, Prof. Irena Lipowicz, visited the FRA at its premises in Vienna on 6 May 2013.

The” Polish Human Rights Defender”, which combines the duty of the national Ombudsman with those of the National Human Rights Institute and the national Equality Body, is since many years collaborating closely with the FRA. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss common working areas, such as anti-Semitism, access to justice and the rights of migrants and asylum seekers. Ms Lipowicz provided insight into the work of her office, especially in regard to its role as National Prevention Mechanism of the UN Convention against Torture.

This year, the Polish Human Rights Defender is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
