The report of the joint meeting between FRA, the Council of Europe, the European Network of NHRIs (ENNHRI) and the European Network of Equality Bodies (Equinet) has been published.

This meeting took place in Vienna on 7-8 October. It brought together over 100 participants from 36 European countries representing national human rights institutions, equality bodies and Ombudsmen, as well as the UN and the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. The conference focused on how the current economic situation has an impact on fundamental rights protection and on national institutions with a human rights remit. There were discussions on how to facilitate the implementation of human rights obligations nationally. The conference resulted in numerous suggestions for cooperation activities which will be followed up in close cooperation with all organising partners, and which will form the basis for FRA’s work with national human rights bodies in 2014.
