FRA discusses Asylum Procedures Directive at Contact Committee meeting

FRA presented findings from its research on sea borders, airports and land border crossing points during discussions of the Contact Committee on the recast Asylum Procedures Directive on 20 June.

The meeting focused on Member States’ obligations in the context of ensuring effective access to protection procedures. In particular, the issue of recognising and responding to possible indications of a wish to apply for international protection – as opposed to explicit requests - was discussed. Participants expressed interest in receiving further practical guidance on this issue.
