Some 50 participants from various government ministries and civil society organisations in Slovakia attended the event. Other speakers gave updates on existing research on violence against women in Slovakia, as well as the perspective of a women's shelter concerning the needs and expectations of the victims. In addition to raising awareness of the FRA survey results, the seminar contributed to a discussion between the participants concerning the particular needs for further research in Slovakia and the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combatting violence against women and domestic violence (the Istanbul Convention).
