Training Schengen evaluators on fundamental rights safeguards

FRA provided training for Schengen evaluators on fundamental rights safeguards that should be assessed in the field of police cooperation.

This training session in Bratislava on 9 June was first such course for evaluators organised under the new Commission-led Schengen evaluation and monitoring mechanism. The discussion focussed on examples from practice relating to explicit safeguards contained in the Schengen legislation as well as on technical issues that may have implications for fundamental rights such as the protection of personal data, effective remedy and free movement.
