Interdisciplinary conference discusses how best to tackle violence against women

FRA presented results of its violence against women survey at an international and interdisciplinary conference in Douai, France on 3-4 March, organised by the law faculty of the University of Artois.

The event, ‘Thinking of domestic violence as a problem of society’, brought together psychologists, psychiatrists, legal and medical specialists and presenters from different countries. FRA’s presentation helped raise awareness in particular about the limited reporting of incidents by victims and how specialised support services are little used. The results underlined the role of medical services in the support of victims of gender-based violence which was supported by other presentations on initiatives in hospitals.
