Towards a tool to assess a child’s best interests when relocating unaccompanied children

FRA has been supporting the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) to develop a practical tool to support authorities responsible for conducting best interests assessments of children in the context of the relocation as required under the EU’s asylum acquis.

FRA joined experts from Member States, the UN Refugee Agency and the International Organization for Migration in a meeting in Valletta on 2-4 March that discussed the practical implementation of the best interests principle in the relocation mechanism and  the context of a practical tool to support officers to assess the best interests of the child when deciding on the relocation of unaccompanied children.
