FRA holds capacity-building workshop for migration hotspot staff in Greece

On 19-20 December, the Agency, in cooperation with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), conducted two workshops on site management and fundamental rights protection in the migration hotspot on the Greek island of Leros.

These were held for the staff of the Reception and Identification Centre (RIS) and the Open Accommodation Center for Asylum Seekers, which is run by RIS. The workshop was attended by almost 50 people and aimed to increase the capacity of staff to fulfil their responsibilities and respond to needs on the ground. An interactive and participatory approach was followed, which enabled participants to discuss the challenges involved in their work. The Agency focused on the identification of vulnerable people and child protection. The next workshops are planned for later this month in Chios and Samos.
