Standards for protecting migrant children

The Agency took part in the first meeting of the Council of Europe’s drafting group responsible for developing standards on age assessment and guardianship for children in the context of migration.

The meeting, held in Strasbourg on 2 and 3 February, was attended by representatives of the Council of Europe member states, , the European Commission, the European Asylum Support Office, UNHCR, UNICEF, the UN’s Special Representative of the Secretary-General on violence against children and civil society. The group is tasked to propose a set of minimum standards to be adopted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in early 2018.
