FRA to join ETIAS Fundamental Rights Guidance Board

The newly-published ETIAS Regulation establishes a European Travel Information and Authorisation System.

Under the system, visa-free non-EU nationals will have to request authorisation to enter the Schengen area before they come. As part of the Regulation, there will also be an ETIAS Fundamental Rights Guidance Board which the Agency will be part of. The Board will review the impact on fundamental rights of processing such applications.

The ETIAS Regulation is the sixth EU secondary law instrument which refers to the Agency and the second regulation concerning IT systems which refers to FRA.
