Funders, foundations and philanthropists meet to address civil society challenges

The Agency presented findings from its "challenges facing civil society working on human rights" report at a meeting of over 120 funders, foundations and philanthropists on 28 May in Brussels.

It spoke about enabling civil society in the EU including through funding as well as the benefits of co-funding private and public arrangements.

The meeting was organised by three umbrella networks: the European Foundation Centre (EFC); the European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA); and Donors and Foundations Networks in Europe (DAFNE).

The networks called for the recognition of philanthropy in contributing to public good, a reduction in the barriers to cross-border philanthropy and joint funding investments for the public good and civil society.
