Supporting fundamental rights in Bulgaria

From 7 to 8 June, the Agency took part in a series of events supporting fundamental rights in Bugaria.

On 7 June, it presented its report on the challenges facing civil society to the Bulgarian NGO community. It was given as part of the launch of the active citizen fund by EEA/Norway Grants.

Then on 8 June, FRA took part in a meeting on independent living where it presented the main findings of its reports on independent living. The meeting was held as Bulgaria is preparing legislation on further implementing the shift from institutional to community living for people with disabilities.

Also on 8 June, FRA participated in a public discussion on promoting LGBT rights in Bulgaria. The discussions emphasised the need to ensure that all parts of the country are addressed by activities promoting LGBT rights. It also covered the need for recognising more rights for unmarried couples.
