Using equality data to combat discrimination

FRA was a speaker at a panel discussion on critical perspectives for equality data in combating discrimination.

The discussion took place during the ‘Equality Data as a Tool for Combating Discrimination’ conference. The Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU and the Swedish Equality Ombudsman organised the event.

Around 500 participants attended the event from 31 countries and 135 organisations. They represented equality bodies, civil society organisations, the academia and policy makers in EU Member States. They explored the significance of equality data in combating discrimination in society.

The conference focused on what contribution equality data can make to individuals seeking redress. It also sought to foster dialogue and discussion about what equality data are, how they can be used as part of the work to combat discrimination, and to promote equal rights and opportunities for all.

The event took place in Stockholm on 12 May.
