Applications allocated to a judicial formation (ECtHR) per 10,000 inhabitants, by EU Member State

This figure shows the per capital allocation by state from 2009 to 2013.

In general terms the number of applications by state stabilised.


The Council of Europe member states had a combined population of approximately 822 million inhabitants on 1 January 2012.

The average number of applications allocated per 10,000 inhabitants was 0.79 in 2012. ‘Applications’ refers to complaints lodged to the ECtHR, which the court has not yet decided are admissible or not.
