On 8 December, FRA contributed to discussion on human rights compliant asylum procedures in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons. FRA reported about obstacles in accessing asylum procedures at EU’s external borders as described in its report Asylum and migration:
On 10-11 December, the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) took part in the Human Rights Conference organised by the city of Vienna. Highlighting the Agency’s long-standing partnership with the city of Vienna, FRA Director Michael O'Flaherty delivered opening remarks on the role of cities in protecting and promoting human rights.

Selon un rapport de l’Agence des droits fondamentaux de l’Union européenne (FRA), des plans à plus long terme, de meilleures informations et une plus grande flexibilité administrative aideraient les autorités locales à fournir aux personnes qui ont fui la guerre en Ukraine un meilleur accès au logement, à l’éducation, à l’emploi et aux soins de santé dans l’UE. Dans ce rapport, les réactions des autorités à la suite à la toute première activation de la directive de l’UE relative à la protection temporaire ont été étudiées. Le rapport identifie les bonnes pratiques et formule des suggestions quant à la manière dont les autorités peuvent relever les nombreux défis communs auxquels elles sont confrontées.
FRA took part in the first meeting of the Council of Europe consultation group focusing on children from Ukraine. The meeting focused on applicable law, guardianship, reception and mental health programmes.
In Madrid on 30 November, FRA took part in the European Platform for Roma Inclusion, a regular event organised since 2009.

On 5 December, FRA presented key developments in terms of fundamental rights for asylum seekers and migrants during the plenary meeting of the EU Migration Preparedness and Crisis Blueprint.
On 7 December, FRA took part in a meeting of the European Commission’s Interservice Group on Child Rights. The meeting discussed the Commission’s recommendation on integrated child protection systems, planned for the first quarter 2024.
FRA took part in a Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU seminar on women and justice.
FRA presented its work and institutional cooperation on civic space at an internal forum of the European Commission’s NEAR Directorate-General. It also spoke about its work on entry, stay and support in the EU for human rights defenders.
Between 20 and 21 November, FRA joined senior representatives of the nine EU Justice and Home Affairs Agencies in Malta. The Agencies’ representatives took stock of the implementation of the five thematic priorities of the EU Asylum Agency’s 2023 Presidency of the network.
