Participation in the Fundamental Rights Platform of the FRA
Application to participate in the Fundamental Rights Platform is currently closed - next call for applicants will be launched in 2012
The Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) regularly invites non-governmental organisations and other institutions of civil society active in the field of fundamental rights at national, European or international level to apply for participating in the Fundamental Rights Platform. The first call for participation was conducted in 2008, the second has just ended in January 2010. The third call for participation will be launched in 2012.
The Platform is a network for cooperation and information exchange. It acts as the common channel for the FRA's cooperation with civil society and ensures a close cooperation between the Agency and civil society. The specific tasks of the Platform are:
- to make suggestions on the Annual Work Programme of the FRA;
- to give feedback and suggest follow-up on the Annual Report of the FRA;
- to communicate outcomes and recommendations of conferences, seminars and meetings relevant to the work of the Agency;
- in addition, the Agency interacts with the participant organisations of the Fundamental Rights Platform in accordance with specific needs related to areas identified as a priority for the Agency's work.
The Platform is open to all interested and qualified stakeholders: non-governmental organisations dealing with human rights, trade unions and employer's organisations, relevant social and professional organisations, churches, religious, philosophical and non-confessional organisations, universities and other qualified experts of European and international bodies and organisations.
Although the Platform is open and inclusive, a set of basic criteria for participation has been established for ensuring structured and efficient work.
In order to ensure that national level voices can be heard from as many EU Member States as possible, the FRA would particularly encourage applications from the following Member States of the EU: Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Sweden.
