About research
A major task of the Agency is to collect and analyse official and non-official information and data on fundamental rights issues in the EU.
Given the differences in data availability and quality across the EU, the Agency is also asked to develop methods and standards to improve data quality and comparability. However, since such secondary data are often not available, the Agency is also tasked to conduct its own EU wide policy relevant research and surveys or encourage others to do so.
In its research work the Agency examines contributory factors, as well as developments policies, which affect fundamental rights. It also identifies ways in which rights are being protected successfully and suggests areas for improvement.
