Human Rights Cities discuss diversity and inclusion

The Agency will speak during the international policy session at the World Human Rights Cities Forum in Gwangju, South Korea that takes place from 18 to 20 October.

FRA will highlight key recommendations from FRA’s Fundamental Rights Forum. It will also provide insights on ways to strengthen the ‘human rights cities’ initiative in Europe building upon findings from its policy lab co-organised with the City of Vienna.

Under the title ‘Who do we live with? Diversity, inclusiveness and peace’, this year’s world forum will discuss concrete measures that local governments could take to spread diversity and inclusiveness. It will be an opportunity to learn about how human rights cities around the world and how they address fundamental rights in such areas as disability, migration and gender. Concrete examples of how local governments can contribute to the 2030 Agenda and the UN Sustainable Development Goals will also be shared.

The World Forum is an annual event. More than 2,000 participants are expected including government officials from human rights cities, UN human rights experts, representatives of the United Cities and Local Governments network, NGOs, local councils, scholars, and rights holders such as children, women, and migrants.
