This year the RightsCon Conference will take place in Toronto from 16 to 18 May.

The Agency is hosting a panel debate on unravelling the secrets of surveillance: Oversight, transparency and accountability. It will build on the comparative fieldwork findings of the 2017 FRA report on surveillance.

Panellists will discuss the importance of intelligence oversight, the challenges key oversight actors are confronted with in the context of surveillance, as well as the necessary features intelligence oversight mechanisms need to incorporate to be effective.

RightsCon is a conference that brings together business leaders, policy makers, general counsels, government representatives, technologists, and human rights defenders from around the world to tackle pressing issues related to human rights and digital technology.
