French hearing on the fundamental rights impact of using AI

FRA joined a hearing on 20 April on a draft French AI Act and its fundamental rights implications.

Building on its research findings, FRA underlined that virtually all fundamental rights may be impacted using AI systems.

It spoke of the importance to conduct research on a case-by-case basis, to provide evidence-based insights on which fundamental rights AI systems interfere with. FRA also highlighted the vital role of fundamental rights impact assessment, as well as the essential elements that could constitute a comprehensive Fundamental Rights Impact Assessment.

The European Affairs Commission of the French Senate organised the hearing.
