During the meeting in Vilnius on 9-10 October, FRA gave participants an update of its progress in analysing the results from its survey on gender-based violence against women. One of EIGE’s core activities is to support EU Council presidency countries in reviewing progress based on indicators that were adopted by Council as follow up to the World conference on Women in Beijing in 1995. EIGE provides evidence and suggestions for developing indicators to the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council, which in turn adopts related Council conclusions. In this sixth meeting the Working Group discussed the results of the EIGE study on women and the media (prepared for the Irish presidency), and research which is currently under way on women and the economy (for the Lithuanian presidency). Participants were also introduced to plans for the Italian presidency as well as presidency events planned for the second half of 2014.
