Fourth meeting of the National Roma Contact Points

On 13-14 February FRA took part in the fourth National Roma Contact Points’ meeting, organised by the European Commission.

The meeting was attended by all EU National Roma Focal Points and discussed the implementation of the Council of the EU’s recommendation on effective Roma integration measures in Member States; the Commission’s priorities for 2014, including the Roma Summit; EU funding for local and regional authorities; and cooperation with the Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts on Roma Issues (CAHROM). FRA’s presentation focused on awareness raising and good practices for fighting Roma discrimination. On the second day, Equinet and national Equality Body representatives joined the meeting to discuss cooperation between National Roma Contact Points and Equality Bodies, as well as the role of Equality Bodies in developing and implementing Roma integration policies.
