The Chairperson of the FRA Management Board, Maija Sakslin, participated in a panel debate on human rights at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities in Strasbourg on 25 March 2014.

Commenting on a new Congress report on good practices in the implementation of human rights locally, she underlined the importance of effective co-operation between different actors sharing responsibility for human rights from the local and regional level to the national and European level.

Other panel speakers at the event included Lars Molin, Chair of the Monitoring Committee of the Congress, and Niels Muiznieks, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.

The FRA has produced an online toolkit that aims to promote a joined-up approach to fundamental rights for local, regional and national public officials, in order to support the type of multi-level cooperation referred to by the FRA Chairperson.
