Violence against women discussed at Austrian parliament

On 4 March, FRA presented a preview of the results from its study on violence against women to a hearing in the Austrian Parliament in Vienna.

The hearing 'Focusing on the victims’ needs' was jointly organised by the Council of Europe’s Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination and the Parliamentary Network Women Free from Violence. The Chair of the Council of Europe Committee, Gisela Wurm, and the Head of the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Luisella Pavan-Woolfe, gave an overview of the European action on violence against women. The Austrian Minister for Education and Women, Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek, spoke about Austria’s experiences of tackling violence against women.
