For the next five years they will form one of the Agency’s bodies: the Scientific Committee. The Committee ensures the scientific quality of the agency and guide its work in this regard by means of scientific objectivity. It is composed of eleven independent experts, highly qualified in the field of fundamental rights.
The members of this new, third Committee include present and former members of European Courts, the United National Human Rights Committee, monitoring bodies of the Council of Europe or national monitoring bodies.
For instance, it includes an acting judge at the European Court of Human Rights, the first United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights and counter-terrorism or the former United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants. At their first meeting the group will get acquainted with the agency’s work.
