FRA will join a meeting on 17 June in Geneva on local governments for human rights – addressing economic and social inequalities at local level.

Organised by the UN’s Human Rights Office and the city network UCLG, the meeting aims to discuss local practices and initiatives to support the realisation of human rights. It will explore ideas on ways to increase collaboration and partnerships with local governments, in particular with the human rights cities initiative.

The meeting is part of the stakeholder consultation for the preparation of a new UN Report on effective methods to foster cooperation between local governments and local stakeholders in human rights that will be submitted to the Human Rights Council in September 2019.
