On 22 June, FRA Director Michael O’Flaherty will speak about young people as agents of change during a youth conference organised by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU.

He will take the opportunity to discuss with young people the fundamental rights challenges facing young people and their aspirations for the future of Europe.

He will draw on findings from FRA’s Fundamental Rights Report 2021. It points to increasing inequalities and how handling of the Covid-19 pandemic affected young people, particularly those living in vulnerable situations. This includes their right to education but also in areas such as employment, mental health, domestic violence, and disinformation.
