Help eradicate discrimination and violence towards women
Too many women everywhere still regularly face discrimination, harassment and violence in their daily lives over 20 years after governments from around the world committed to achieving gender equality and empowering women. On International Women’s Day, FRA calls for renewed focus to help honour those far ranging commitments made in Beijing 1995 at the UN’s World Conference on Women.

Joint EU Agencies declaration on harassment
Together, we the Heads of EU agencies and Joint undertakings commit to zero tolerance towards sexual harassment and we cannot and will not accept harassment of any form in our agencies. We take it upon ourselves to communicate to our staff that harassment in the workplace is never acceptable. We have committed ourselves in accordance with existing laws and particularly the staff regulation, to promote diversity at work and provide our staff with a trusted place in which to work.

Developing the next EU-wide gender-based violence survey
From 7 to 8 March, the Agency will take part in a Eurostat task force meeting on developing a gender-based violence survey. Following the launch of FRA’s violence against women survey results in 2014, Eurostat – together with the national statistical institutes –began preparing the next EU survey on the topic.

With the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 70 years ago, governments around the globe committed to making peace, democracy and justice a reality for all. We, national, regional and international institutions have worked towards that objective, striving to improve the life of hundreds of millions of people around the world. However, that work remains incomplete as poverty, armed conflicts, oppression, inequality and discrimination are still a reality for so many people.
