It built on the successful collaboration in 2017 and the partnership established during FRA’s Fundamental Rights Forum 2018.
During the 2018 edition of the festival, FRA was the patron of four screenings under the themes of belonging, identity, child rights, migration, extremism, radicalisation and youth. The aim was to emphasise the power of films to tell stories that matter.
A panel discussion with human rights experts, academics, film directors as well as civil society representatives followed each screening.
Combined it provided an opportunity for the audience to watch exciting and inspiring human rights stories, as well as engage with the high-level panellists about the issues raised.
Over 14,500 people took part this year – the highest participation so far – watching the wide range of films on offer and joining the debates.
This human world celebrated also the 70th anniversary of the Declaration of the Human Rights on 10 December with film screenings around the topic of human rights across all of Austria.
