The purpose of the meeting was to exchange information on migration trends in Tunisia and Syria, and to discuss migration forecasts.
FRA presented fundamental rights considerations when assessing Syrian applications for international protection. It also poiunted to its work on AI and fundamental rights, and on large-scale EU IT systems and their impact on fundamental rights.
The European Commission presented a feasibility study on a forecasting and early warning tool for migration based on artificial intelligence.
The Commission chaired the meeting. The European External Action Service, the Council of the EU Secretariat, EU Member States and the EASO, Frontex, Europol and eu-LISA EU agencies also attended.
